Supercharge Your Trades with Portfolio Margin Mode

Jun 15, 2022
Disclaimer: This is a general announcement. Products and services referred to here may not be available in your region. Please refer to T&C for more details.

It's time to supercharge your trading experience on Bybit with Portfolio Margin mode.

That's right. Portfolio Margin mode is now live on Bybit's USDC Derivatives Account.

What is Portfolio Margin Mode?

Portfolio Margin mode is a risk-based margin policy designed to help reduce the margin requirements of your portfolio. It can be used for USDC Derivatives Accounts where long and short positions held across Perpetual and Options contracts can be netted against one another.

Benefits of Portfolio Margin Mode

Portfolio Margin mode offers you enhanced capital efficiency and increased leverage if you maintain a balanced portfolio of hedged positions. Unlike traditional margin policies, which automatically require you to fund a fixed percentage of the position value, Portfolio Margin mode determines your margin requirements based on the overall risk of your portfolio rather than individual positions. Since most of the risks have been hedged, your margin requirements will be significantly reduced.

Get Started With Portfolio Margin Mode

Before enabling Portfolio Margin mode, you must meet all of the following criteria:

1) Maintain a minimum net equity of 1,000 USDC

2) Have no positions in your USDC Derivatives Account

3) Have no active orders or condition orders under your USDC Derivatives Account

To enable Portfolio Margin mode, go to the USDC Options or USDC Perpetual Contract trading page and click on the Portfolio Margin icon located on the top right corner of your screen.

Risks of Portfolio Margin Mode Portfolio Margin risks the traditional stop-profit and stop-loss on a single position. This may lead to a larger margin of the overall portfolio, which may further lead to higher risk in liquidation. As the initial margin is small when opening a position, the change in market may lead to a higher maintenance margin, hence users need to pay more attention to the change of margin and prevent liquidation.
